[ On the morning of the 13th, one day before Valentine's Day, a sudden text message appears from a Souji Seta. Perhaps you've talked to him before. Perhaps you haven't. Perhaps you're wondering why the hell you are receiving a text at six in the morning but look, let's not sweat the small details. Pay attention to the larger ones, like the contents of this very important message: ]
Hello.
Through the tides of fate, you have been chosen to participate in this year's Valentine's Day event: Blind Dating. It is believed that no one should be alone for such an important day and as such, you have been paired up with another lonely soul.
Your match is with Chloe Bouchard. Please contact them to plan out your date for tomorrow.
However, if you and your partner do not know what to do, there will be a booth in Recollé Square for the sole purpose of assisting unsure or confused participants of the event. There will be date suggestions, booklets of pick-up lines, and refreshments.
[It was a day or two after the insane giant moth assaulted Tokyo and somehow the city had survived what qualified as a date between these two. And, at this point Chloe had to ask something, and it felt most appropriate to ask in private.]
Peridot, would I be out of line if I were to call you a mad scientist? I want to be sure.
[Because she could seriously imagine her screaming "It's ALIIIIIIIVE!"]
yes i think that would be fairly accurate though mad scientists tend to blow themselves up a lot i tend more to blow other things up i'd say i'm more of a mad supergenius, that covers everything
Haha, well yes. There is some truth to that, I suppose. But supergenius does not roll off of the tongue quite so smoothly as scientist. And, besides, to truly be a scientist, you must be quite intelligent, no?
i don't know, i've met some pretty stupid "scientists" in my days but i wouldn't call them scientists so i guess your point stands anyway i'm glad i could help you out in your understanding of my greatness what brought this on??
Oh! I was trying to think of a good way to describe you if someone asked, without being inaccurate. You're quite unique, but I don't think most have met you yet. I wanted to make sure it fit.
And of course, if a scientist was stupid, they're not really a scientist.
i see, i see, i can definitely understand how it might be a daunting task to describe me i'm glad i could help clear things up at least! generally when speaking of me the use of superlatives is encouraged
Thank you in that case. I will remember to keep in mind that everything with you is an extreme and absolute. That seems to be the best choice. This has been most helpful.
it seems like most cryptozoologists focus on bigfoot or the loch ness monster and things like that at least, that's what i've gathered from the history channel
[Peridot would receive a link to this supposedly private entry on Rachel's on-line journal around the time things start going wrong.]

[Dated around the time of the first Retrospec intro log.]
I ended up having another argument with Stone again. Same old, same old. But she gave me an idea for a Venomummy deck and now I just feel dirty. Then again, if I bring it out during the next competition she won't see it coming. Maybe abandoning my scruples can give me a strategic advantage...
Peridot Stone what is this Peridot Stone WHAT IS THIS Peridot Stone WHAT MIND GAMES ARE YOU TRYING TO PLAY Peridot Stone WHATEVER IT IS, IT WON'T WORK!!!
[Rachel could freak out, like she did with the other posts of her's that have gotten out. She could get angry. Or... she could use this to her advantage because she needs some damn catharsis.]
Rachel Hishimura Wouldn't YOU like to know, Stone. Rachel Hishimura Mind games are a part of competitive playing, after all. Rachel Hishimura I'm just taking it to the next level.
[Yeah, this is completely unintended. But as long as she can hide that...]

[Of course, that didn't mean that she was going to be using the 'best' superlatives, now did it?]</small.

i never do things by halves so it's best to represent that correctly when describing me
so you're welcome
no subject
Now I simply need to understand you.
Mid-month sometime.
Figured you two could like...bond over your crazy theories.
[Yes Eleanor is trying to give Peri friends because maybe it will make her less insane.]

i have rarely met one so young and yet well-versed in monsterology
we need to talk more about crazy theories, though!!!
wait
no
my theories aren't crazy, they're steeped in TRUTH
no subject
...
Wouldn't mosnterology be Cryptozoology?
no subject
uh
IT'S WHATEVER I WANT TO CALL IT!!!
besides monsterology goes WAY beyond what cryptozoologists study
they need to broaden their horizons a bit
not enough study of dragons or unicorns
no subject
That seems like a pretty big oversight.
